Before you log on you can use the WHO command (in upper case!) to see if I'm on.

Note that FurryMuck is a big place with loads of players, so using WHO without limitations is a bad idea - it shows everyone who's online! Use one of the following variants instead to limit your search to characters whose names start with Y.

WHO y
WHO Y
WHOy
WHOY

You can of course add an I and even a P if you want...

Before you log on you can use the WHO command (in upper case!) to see if I'm on.

Unlike FM, SpinDizzy is a pretty small place, so the full WHO list will overload neither the computer nor your mind. (Besides getting the full list is easier when looking for one of two characters!)

If I'm on, or you just want to visit the muck anyway, log on as a guest with

con guest guest

(con is short for connect, which also works if you like to exercise your fingers)

You will be connected to the character "Guest" with the password 'guest' then immediately reconnected to a numbered character (usually Guest1) with an unknown password. (This is so you won't be able to rename the character or change its password, and to let others log on as Guest)

Before you go on, take a moment to examine your borrowed character with the 'look', 'smell' and 'ws' commands. Someone's been having fun giving the guests interesting identities...
For security reasons guests are confined to a guest room at first. To get out, you must ask a member of the staff to let you out. Type

wizzes

to see if there are any 'wizards' on. If there is one on duty, page him/her and ask politely to be let out.

p (name)=Hello, can you let me out please?

P is short for page, which may be typed in full if you etc.
Replace (name) with the name of the wiz you chose. You can also page to 'wizzes', which will send your message to all of them, but this may not make you very popular with those who are off duty!

If there are no wizzes on, type

staff

to see if anyone in the helpstaff are on. You may then use the

request

command to ask them to let you out. If there's no staff on you're out of luck. Try again later.

Security on SpinDizzy is more lax, so you can just use

rose

to go to the Rose Garden (center of the SD universe), or

park

to go to the designated 'park of the day' (which varies occasionally).

You can in fact go anywhere you like, if you know how. You can even teleport!

You should now be in a pretty central place. If I'm not there and you know I'm on, you can get my attention two ways:
  1. Find your way to Yip's home and wait a bit. If I'm not there either, the room will inform me you're there and i'll be around shortly. (That's right, Smart Homes may still be a pipe dream in the real world, but on FM they've been around for ages!)
  2. Ask someone to contact me. Guests can only page wizards, so you need to ask someone nicely to page me for you. And remember to tell them who you are! Or at least something I can recognize you by. It may sound obvious, but there are still guests who come into the park on FM and say 'Can someone page so-and-so and tell them I'm here?' Who is here? You are an anonymous guest!

p waydya=Hi there, I am ....

(or p jabari if he's the one that's on.)

In addition to visiting me, you can hang around, chat and go exploring. Just keep in mind that guests have a time limit which for some reason varies from half an hour to over an hour. You can reconnect as soon as you can type the commands though, but still have to go through the 'let me in' routine again. In addition to visiting me, you can hang around, chat and go exploring. And what's more, you can do it for as long as you want! That's right, no time limit here!
After your tenth visit as a guest you can consider yourself hooked, and it's high time to get a character of your own that you can define any way you want, hug it and squeeze it, take it home and call it Marvin.
You can use the web registration form, or type

news join

while you're on the MUCK to find out how to reegister by email. (Find somewhere quiet to do this or the text will be pushed off the screen by background noise before you can read it.)

Nothing simpler, just find a wizard and pull his or her tail. (No, really! It says so on the SD website!) Failing that, you can register by email. Check the site for details (or 'de tails').

That's all folks...
