2K passing

A year or two from now many computers (but certainly not every microprocessor in the world, as some media want us to believe) are going to face a serious problem: Their calendars don't know what comes after 1999. Even as this is uploaded, PC owners all around the globe are spending millions (total, not individually) upgrading their systems, while Amiga owners like yours truly just sit back and watch the show. There was a brief discussion of the "Y2K" (That's "Year 2 Kilo", or 2000) problem on NATW a while back - it was brief because it turned out that Amigas don't have any problems with the new century. Even though they print and input dates just like other computers, Amigas store the date internally as days since New Year 1978, so January 1st, 2000 is just another day to them. My own conclusion in that discussion was that if the Amigas did have a Y2K problem someone would have provided a cure for free. It takes a special kind of person to charge people for correcting your own error...

What this has got to do with songs? Well, very soon now every PC that hasn't been "cured" will cycle back to 1900, which kind of inspired this little ditty you should be able to guess the tune to.

Where have all the PCs gone?
2K passing
Where have all the PCs gone?
Where are they now?
Where have all the PCs gone?
They went back to World War One!
When will Gates ever learn?
When will Gates ever learn?
